A balanced meal is a meal that has the right proportions of carbohydrate sugars, fats, minerals, vitamins, moisture, and proteins. Each one of these is equally important and must be present in every meal that you eat in the day.

Carbohydrates and sugars should be had in the highest proportion. Bread, pasta, rice, and many fruits and vegetables like potatoes and bananas have high carbohydrate contents. These foods are used by the body easily and are needed for function.
Fats like those present in butter, margarine, cream, oils should be had in small amounts, but not missed out because they are integral for the body when it is low on carbohydrates as an energy source. Vitamins (A through E) and minerals like potassium, iron, and iodine, etc help regulate different body functions. Make sure your meals have enough roughage and fiber too.
