What Is The Ruan?

Check out this cool video from explore.org on the Chinese instrument called the “Ruan.” This classic Chinese string instrument has existed for over 2,000 years and its name derives from Ruan Xian, a Chinese musician (and one of the legendary Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove). They are similar to banjos, and up until the 20th century, the strings were made of silk. Watch this cool instrument now!
